Weathering Steel Additions

 

We completed this weathering steel balcony and planter addition to this beautiful modern home in Vancouver. Weathering steel, often referred to as COR-TEN steel - is a group of steel alloys which were developed to form a stable rust-like appearance after several years' exposure to weather, and to give it a unique look that evolves over time. As weather interacts with the metal, unique patinas form, giving the home a completely original exterior and adds an element of texture. The use of weathering steel on parts of the exterior of this modern home gives the design a unique appearance that will continue to change over time as weather alters the materials and reacts with the metal.
